The Bible is not an amulet, a charm, a fetish, or a book that will work wonders by it’s very presence.
It is a book that will work wonders in every life, here and hereafter, if acted upon and obeyed in faith and sincerity. It is God’s inspired revelation of the origin and destiny of all things, written in the most simple human language possible so that the most unlearned can understand and obey its teachings.
Websters Dictionary defines a bully as “a blustering, browbeating person, especially one who is habitually cruel, insulting or threatening to others who are weaker, smaller or in some way vulnerable or ignorant of established facts.”
Recently we were sitting on our patio, enjoying a late summer afternoon, just chatting to one another when I saw this little honey bee which had landed on one of our plants. I didn’t take a lot of notice of it at that instance other than to be glad that it was visiting us and helping to pollenate the plants we have sitting out there.
But the Bee had a message for me.
The Heretic Hunters – Revs Chris & Elizabeth Chapman
Many well-known and famous ministers and ministries have been labeled as heretics and are constantly under attack from people who call themselves Christians and yet who are nothing more than witch hunters themselves.
The Unicorns – Rev. Chris Chapman
Have you ever wondered why there are no unicorns on the earth today? The answer could be very simple but one which we can perhaps take advantage of.
The Longest, Deepest, Darkest Journey – Rev. Chris Chapman
Every day each of us takes many journeys. Some are long, some are short, some take longer than others, some, no time at all. We can divide all of these journeys into two categories. Journeys that are necessary, and journeys of choice. There is however one journey that we should take; one that is necessary, but still one of choice. It is also one that many people fear or at least are very reluctant to even begin.
The Mule & The Thoroughbred – Rev. Chris Chapman
You can take a mule and stable him with a thoroughbred. You can feed him the same food, shoe his hooves like the thoroughbred, put a saddle on him, and ride him around the racetrack just like the thoroughbred. But…..
The Shepherd & The Cowboy
One of the main differences you notice is how the Cowboy and the Shepherd move their charges from one place to another. The shepherd often will lead the sheep from the front, whilst the cowboy drives them from the rear.
The Lamb & The Doorpost – Rev. Chris Chapman
The feast of the Passover signifies the story of God’s 10th attempt to get the Egyptian Pharaoh to release His people. The Israelites were given specific instructions as to what must be done in order to receive their freedom.
Who Are You? – Rev. Chris Chapman
How many times have you seriously wondered who you are, what your purpose is, or both?
You may not even be sure if there is a calling on your life or not. And, if there is, what is it?
Go Where The Ravens Are – Rev. Chris Chapman
Thinking about going on a mission trip? Thinking about stepping out into ministry? Are you sure that the Lord is completely behind you in this? Are you in His perfect will? Or is this just your desire? Is it something that somebody else is doing and you want to be a part of? Many Christians take actions that are not fully of the Lord, and they fail. So, how can you be sure that you do not fail?….
The Windtalkers – Rev. Chris Chapman
What could a World War II Navajo radio operator teach you? This blog will give you an insight into one of the most precious gifts that the Lord has given you as a Christian. This gift has been hidden and set aside by so many false doctrines. Why? Because this gift is truly something that, once you understand it and receive it, will become an essential part of your walk with the Lord.
Rourke’s Drift – Rev. Chris Chapman
After the 1879 massacre of almost 1,500 British soldiers in Natal, South Africa, the force of some 4,000 Zulus attacked a mission in an area known as Rourke’s Drift. At that time there was a small contingent of just 150 Royal Engineers on an assignment in the area who were encamped at the Mission. The British won the battle, turning the enemy away. How?
The Truth about Geese – Rev. Chris Chapman
Some years back a long-term study of the behaviour of a flock of migratory Canadian Geese was carried out, and, over the period the researchers discovered some amazing characteristics about these (seemingly) simple creatures, and their habits. We, as Christians, can learn from these creatures and their habits.
Choices, Consequences and Conclusions – Rev. Chris Chapman
Every day, each of us makes multiple choices. This is one of the things that makes us free, and one of the amazing gifts that the Lord has given us. It becomes obvious, (or we should at least hope that it does become obvious,) that making bad choices most usually brings bad consequences. The result of making good choices brings good consequences. There is also the fact of the conclusion, or conclusions, that follow each consequence and, in the same manner, they can be good or bad conclusions.
The Whole Armour Of God – Rev. Chris Chapman
The Apostle Paul took the example of a Roman soldier dressed for combat to teach us how the Lord has already provided (literally) complete protection against all things, if we will become daily proficient in preparing ourselves to combat against our enemy, the devil.
I Promise – Rev. Chris Chapman
Have you ever considered how the other person feels when you break a promise to them? Doesn’t it reflect on their opinion of you? There are people who believe that some promises are so small they’re not a big deal. Not really important. Right?
The Fig Tree – Rev. Chris Chapman
When Jesus went to the fig tree to eat, was it just to feed Himself, or was He intending to feed His disciples something else? And, what was the purpose behind His cursing of the tree? Was He offended? Or was there a greater truth to be given to His disciples? Some of the answers are given within this blog, some are for you to discover for yourself……..
What’s In A Name? – Rev. Chris Chapman
During my service in the British Royal Navy, I spent some time aboard a ship that was taken into a complete refit program. This meant that the ship was almost completely stripped of everything including most of the electrical circuits and systems. This is where I met “Taff The Lamp.”
The Plate Spinner – Rev. Chris Chapman
Have you ever been in a situation where you were overwhelmed and felt that everything was about to come crashing down around you? Check out this teaching about the Plate Spinner and see if you find any common ground with him. His potential dilemma does not have to become yours. The answer to stopping things from crashing down upon you is contained within….
The Proof of the Pudding – Rev. Chris Chapman
Most of us enjoy some kind of dessert or another, but have you ever considered what it takes to make it satisfying to you so that it lives up to your expectations? Somewhere, somehow, someone came up with a recipe that fulfills the desired end. But you never know how good that pudding is until you eat it. So, the proof of the pudding truly is in the eating!
Six Honest Serving Men – Rev. Chris Chapman
Contained within this poem by Rudyard Kipling is a very effective way of discovering some of both the simple and the deeper things that God has for us. When most people set out to study the Bible they begin by reading. But many do not achieve as complete an understanding of the Bible, of the Word of God, as they desire just by reading it.
The Fish And The Net – Rev. Chris Chapman
“Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, but he will be hungry again tomorrow. Give a man a net and teach him how to use it, and he will never be hungry again, he will feed himself, be able to feed his family, and have food to share with others.”
Prevention, Cure & Maintenance – Rev. Chris Chapman
Satan hates God and because you are a child of God, he hates you too. So, he will take every opportunity that he can to hurt you, and therefore God. How can we prevent this?
Shark Attack – Rev. Chris Chapman
Recently a fisherman released a video that was made when he and some friends were fishing off the stern of a boat. The fisherman is seen from behind reeling in his catch of a rather large tuna. As his catch is brought closer and closer to the boat where he intends to land it, suddenly a great white shark appears out of nowhere and snatches the tuna off of the fisherman’s line. The great white was huge, well over an estimated 20 feet long. It was both amazing and scary to watch at the same time. But there is a lesson that we can gain from this……
There’s An App For That – Rev. Chris Chapman
The word App or Application itself describes something that can or is applied to a situation or need. The application may give you the knowledge by helping you understand how to do, or accomplish your desire or quest; to giving instructions of how to accomplish it, overcome a situation and reach a fulfilment, the desired end result. “Application” is used throughout everyone’s life, each and every day, but I wonder if you know the origin of this? Who came up with the first App?
The Tomcat – Rev. Chris Chapman
Once upon a time, there was a Tomcat who lived in an alley. This was his domain and over which he ruled. He ruled by intimidation, fear and bullying.
One Hundred Percent – Rev. Chris Chapman
Often, 100% is spoken or written, regarding a person’s input, i.e., “100% effort.” This simply means that the person is committed to giving 100% of themselves or their means. It could refer to their physical effort, their attention to something, or some other such commitment.
Don’t eat all of your corn! – Rev. Chris Chapman
In the parable of the sower, (Luke 8:4-8) the Lord teaches about the different conditions that soil can be in to explain that we should strive to improve ourselves and discusses some of the barriers that cause us to be less than ideal ground in which our seeds should be planted.
But, as part of the same Scripture, he teaches about the law of increase.
The Argumentalist – Rev. Chris Chapman
We have all come across someone who just loves to argue. Often, their arguments just seem to be based on a subject that they know instigates a conversation of disagreement. So, if they know that you are passionate about something they will go out of their way to investigate and find information that can be rolled into the conversation simply to begin it. But, it can be very enlightening to find out why they are pursuing this…..
The Firefighter – Rev. Chris Chapman
When the firefighter enters a burning building, he will have assessed the situation prior to entering. Because of this, he will know, and will take the appropriate tools and equipment with him that is needed to accomplish the task ahead. Most importantly he will have undergone very intensive training and be qualified in the use of those same tools and pieces of equipment that may become necessary to carry out his role. Are you equipped to ward off the fiery darts of spiritual warfare that Satan aims against us?
Faith Killers – Rev. Chris Chapman
When “someone” questions God they are attacking Him and, this amounts to unbelief. When you have unbelief, you have doubt you cannot operate in faith. When we blame Him for something, we are often saying that He is not true to His Word and this amounts to calling Him a liar. Who believes a liar?
The Right Side of the Boat – Rev. Chris Chapman
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, and Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find.
Shame is a powerful weapon that can be used to destroy someone or to keep them suppressed to the degree that any message that they have to bring loses all credibility.
