There’s An App For That

Nowadays, most of us are familiar with smartphones and with the potential worldwide communication and information that they offer. There are also thousands upon thousands of “Apps” that are available covering almost every possible need or medium that we could wish. If you have such a device, you will already be aware that there are numerous “App Stores” which you can visit to seek out the information or mediums through which you can seek that information. Whatever your quest might be, whether it be how to bake a cake, fly a plane, play a game, or even to visit another country without moving from the comfort of your own home, there’s an App for that.

Like much of our culture today, we use shortened versions of words in our everyday language, and as you know, “App” is the shortened version of the word “Application.”

The word application itself describes something that can or is applied to a situation or need. The application may give you the knowledge by helping you understand how to do, or how to accomplish your desire or quest; to give you the instructions of how to accomplish it, overcome a situation and reach a fulfillment, the desired end result. Application of something or other is used throughout everyone’s life, each and every day, but I wonder if you know the origin of this? Who came up with the first App?

It was the Lord God Almighty. Really? Yes, really!

If we refer back to the App Store, we know that there are answers available to us and through that knowledge, we can obtain wisdom and through wisdom become able to achieve that same desired end result. To overcome and to live the life that we desire through the wise application of that knowledge.

Once the Lord had created the world and the Garden of Eden, He placed man there and told him to look after it. Adam would not have known how to do that so, it is obvious that the Lord would have explained to him how to carry out His instructions. Adam would have begun to carry them out but, if he came across some situation which he was unsure of, where do you think he turned? Of course, he went to God and asked for the answer or instruction. This was the beginning of a relationship. This is what the Lord desires, for us to go with Him when we have need for instruction or to further our knowledge in some matter.

As Time has gone by, the Lord has given His children many instructions in the way that they should live their lives and much of that instruction came as guidance to keep them on the right path. But, as time went on they did not follow those instructions to the letter resulting in the hardships that came upon them and the generations that followed. Can you imagine trying to effectively knock in a nail with a screwdriver? You may well eventually achieve that, but it’s highly likely that you will ruin the screwdriver. Most people who use any kind of tool will know, or will eventually find out that there is a correct and safe way of using that tool to attain the desired result. Most of us who utilize any kind of tool become efficient in it’s use by learning how to use it. Likewise, when a task is at hand that requires a specific tool we also learn which tool to use by knowing the tools are available to us. Practice in its use results in speedier and more effective results. Eventually, hopefully in a very short time, we come to the conclusion of the value of an effective tool. When this becomes so we will protect that tool and value it, guarding it, and placing it safely within our personal “toolbox”.

So, going back to our App Store, or checking out our toolboxes to find the appropriate application or tool to use is exactly the same method we employ to effectively using God’s Word. We have to find the applicable Word, or Scripture, which we use in a given situation. But we still have to learn how to use it! When an expert teaches us how to accomplish something, or use a tool correctly, it cuts down on the amount of time spent in trying to find out to do it ourselves. We become more efficient or quick in accomplishing the task set before us. The Lord God Almighty wants us to be the most efficient we can be, as fast as we can achieve it in order that we come to live the life that He desires for us.

(Isa 48:17)  Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Even here in this Scripture, the Lord is telling the reader, “I am the one that has (and always will be) the one who has saved you. I am the one that will tell you what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.” The promise is that the reader if they obey the instructions of God, will profit – not just financially, but will obtain increase in their life comforts, their achievements, so as to fulfill and be gratified in their life and in those achievements. Being successful and have success throughout their lives.

The Lord is telling us that He has all the answers and will teach you, instruct you, so that you can fulfill your life in the way that He has always desired for you. If you will receive those instructions!

So, where are these instructions? Simple, they are all in the Bible. God’s App Store!

His App Store began when His children handed down God’s Word throughout the generations, handed down from generation to generation until mankind learned how to write them down so that many could learn to read and refer back to those instructions. One of the first Apps must have been the 10 Commandments written on the stones which Moses brought down the mountain when he spoke with God.

We now have a much fuller Word, even more in-depth than before, our Bible.

When you come to understand, then seek the knowledge within the covers of  YOUR Bible, then learn, or be instructed in how to apply that knowledge, you will have all of the things that He has set aside for you.

When you come to understand and accept, through belief in His Word that:

  1. He is real, that He exists
  2. When He makes a promise, He keeps it.
  3. You are His child, and therefore heir to His Kingdom
  4. That you have been given the Authority of, to use the name of Jesus and through that, you have all power over all power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you!

And this is just the beginning…..

Let me make something very clear to you, in case you do not already know this:

The Bible is nothing short of every instruction and answer that you will ever need in order to face the trials and tribulations of this world whilst we are in this human body, in this carnal mind, but also the essence of how to overcome every situation that will ever arise within your lifetime.

But, (there’s always usually a “but” isn’t there a) in order that you can fully understand the Bible and the knowledge and wisdom that it contains, there is a certain prerequisite that you must have: You must be born again………

If you have not taken this step and make Jesus your Lord and Savior please go to our teaching The Need for Salvation  so that you can understand how imperative this necessity really is if you are to receive all that the Lord God Almighty has set aside for mankind. How all that He intended for His children, right back in the Garden of Eden, has not changed. But, more especially, if you have not been born again, as you go to that teaching, you will have the opportunity to see and fully understand that all your desires, all that you want, and the fulfillment of the purpose that you seek for your life has already been laid out for you. In easy terms, if you wanted to live in France, you will enjoy it best if you understand the language of that country, the protocols, and the laws that apply to it. Simple.

Studying God’s Word opens up so many answers to questions and the wisdom to carry out the proper ways, the right ways to both live your life in the way that God has planned it for you and for the purpose for which you were made. And there is a great purpose for you, you alone. A purpose for which you alone were uniquely made. But, before you can fulfill that purpose you have to discover it, find it, and follow the instructions of how to achieve it and overcome all the obstacles that Satan will try to put in your way. He does not want you to even have the knowledge to carry out your purpose, let alone learning how to use that knowledge because you become a threat to his kingdom! He knows that the Bible has been written and contains all that you would ever need to overcome him and his cohorts. If that were you, wouldn’t you try every means possible to deter people from even owning a Bible? From ever reading it, from studying it, from understanding it and believing what it says to the extent that you can use those instructions against him?

The Bible is referred to as the “Sword of the Spirit” – In the book of Ephesians the apostle Paul refers to the whole armour of God and in chapter 6, verse 17, he specifically says “….and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”  But, when you compare each of the items of the armour to one another, you’ll recognize that the sword is the only offensive weapon. So, when you go into battle it is what you use to attack your enemy. The other items of your armour are primarily defensive items, designed to protect you. In turn, each of these has to be used correctly to protect you, but when the time for you to be on the offensive comes, it is the Sword of God that you will use to drive back and defeat your enemy, Satan.

Knowing how to use your sword is therefore of great importance to, not just your survival in this world, but also to the level of your effectiveness as a child of God, to the fulfillment of your purpose.

At Eagles Wings Ministry we understand the great importance of not just telling people what they need to do to achieve desired results, but, just as the Lord Himself does, we instruct in the “how-to” as well. I have been privy to many preachers and teachers, pastors, etc, who will point a finger of conviction and tell the individual or congregation that they (eg) need to get faith! As a baby Christian, I knew this was so, and yet nobody (or very few) ever said “And this is what you have to do to achieve that….” God doesn’t do that, and nor do we.

As part of operation as a discipleship ministry we employ a technique that is based on the pneumonic word “P.E.S.O.S.” In this technique we endeavor to lay down a format that is systematic in its operation and, as the student learns the technique for themselves they will employ it in all their studies. The objective is truly to develop the lifestyle of studying the Bible for the answers to every question, situation, and operation that will ever arise during their life.

This is the breakdown of the pneumonic, but please visit the link so you can understand even better how we employ it in our Systematic Discipleship program:

P. – Present. Present the objective.

E. – Explain. Explain how it is going be achieved.

S. – Show. Show how to do it.

O. – Observe. Observe the student carrying out the operation.

S. – Show again. Correcting any mistakes. Tweaking.

Now, taking two Scriptures from the book of John we can see that Jesus it’s confirmed as being God, part of the triune Godhead, and that He came to earth in human form and lived here among men, the disciples declaring themselves as witnesses to this:

(John1:1)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(John 1:14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

What is often glossed over is the fact that Jesus became a living example and carried out the exact same technique as P.E.S.O.S., literally achieving the desired result.

What is also extremely important to understand is the fact that He never failed. The Word never failed. He is the word, He is in the Word. Every situation He came across was overcome. The Word overcame, the Word overcomes for you! So, if we want to overcome every situation, all we have to do is refer to the Word, and see how it instructs us to achieve our desired end in any given situation. Then use it! There is nothing for which the Bible does not have the answer or how to achieve that desired end.

There are Scriptures that instruct us how to do, what to say, how to say it; and what not to do, what not to say, and even how to behave. All we have to do is to find them, and understand that these are proven instructions and promises from God himself that, when they are spoken and acted upon, the desired result will be achieved.

(Isaiah 55:11)  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

When you, as a born again Christian, speak the Word of God, you are speaking with the authority that has been given to you, becoming God’s mouthpiece, this promise will be fulfilled. In this Scripture above, God has promised His word will achieve and accomplish anything to which it was sent. When you are speaking it, you are sending it!

And here is a Scripture to be working on:

(Isaiah 54:17)  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Receive it, and speak it out! ….. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, – that’s you!

Additional Teachings.

  1. The Whole Armor of God  –  In Ephesians 6:12 (above) Paul explains that Satan’s overall objective is to defeat God’s people through spiritual means manifested into carnal weapons and through carnal beings. He also explains how God has provided us with every piece of equipment that we will need to defeat Satan. Paul lists this equipment by using the illustration of the Roman soldier and the things that made up their weapons and armour, then explaining why we need it.  The Whole Armour of God – Click Here
